Introduction:
HEC, Hydroxyethyl cellulose, is a non-ionic water-soluble polymer that is widely used in industries such as construction coatings, petroleum, medicine, and daily chemicals. It has functions such as thickening, bonding, emulsification, dispersion, and stabilization, and can retain moisture, form a film and provide a protective colloidal effect. It is easily soluble in both cold and hot water and can provide solutions with a wide viscosity range.

Properties and advantages:

• It is not affected by the pH value of the system and has a high thickening efficiency. Moreover, it has good compatibility with other component raw materials such as pigments, additives, salts or electrolytes.

• It is easy to disperse and can effectively reduce the occurrence of clumping.
• The usage method is simple. It can be dissolved in hot or cold water using a stirring device, and the solution can be directly added to the product.
• It will not reduce the surface tension of the product or produce foam during the production process.

Applications: 
It has wide application in ink, textile dyeing & printing,paper making, pharmaceuticals, food, agriculture etc.

1. In water based paint, hydroxyethyl cellulose HEC plays a role of dispersing and protecting gels, enhancing reaction stability of agglomerate system, ensuring homogeneous distribution of pigment and stuffing, and providing effect of thickening, improving fluidity.
2. In oil drilling, it is used as stabilizer and thickening agent, lubricating agent for well drilling, completing and consolidating to give slurry a good fluidity and stability.
3. In construction, HEC can be used as thickening agent and cohesive agent to improve the fluidity and workability, increase initial gelling strength and avoid cracking.
4. In brushing and cohering plaster, it may obviously raise water-holding and coherence strength.
5. In daily-use chemical such as toothpaste it gives a good physical and chemical property, making it good in shape, long period of storage, hard be dry and permeated.
6. In cosmetic field, t can increase material density, adding lubrication and smoothness.
