Polyaldehyde resin (CAS No. 25054-06-2) is a light yellow transparent solid with a density of 1.14 g/cm³, and its softening point ranges from 80ºC to 105ºC. This resin has good compatibility with various resins such as epoxy resin, phenolic resin, chlorinated rubber and polyamide, and is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, alcohol and ester. It has a wide range of industrial applications, mainly used in solvent-based coatings, inks, adhesives and other fields, which can enhance the gloss, adhesion and anti-yellowing performance of products.
 

 

Physical proerties:

Polyaldehyde resin appears as a light yellow transparent solid or white to slightly yellow granular. The softening point range varies depending on the testing conditions. There are both single values marked at 105ºC and multi-interval data such as 95 ~ 105ºC. Its density is 1.14 g/cm³, and the content of active ingredients reaches 99.5%. It is a light yellow transparent solid at room temperature and can dissolve faster after heating.

Good Compatibility: It has good compatibility with resin systems such as epoxy resin, phenolic resin, chlorinated polypropylene, rosin resin, and petroleum resin, and can be used as a substitute in systems such as nitrocellulose and alkyd resin.

Good Weather resistance: It has outstanding resistance to yellowing and high temperatures, making it suitable for outdoor coatings and high-gloss scenarios.

Good Stability: Acid value ≤6.0 mgKOH/g, hydroxyl value approximately 40 mgKOH/g, saponification value approximately 50 mgKOH/g, iodine colorimetric ≤3.

 

Uses:

Coatings industry: It is used for the modification of solvent-based coatings, amino baking varnish, and nitrocellulose coatings, which can enhance the hardness of the paint film, drying speed, and weather resistance. It performs outstandingly in the environmentally friendly benzene-free coating system;

Ink manufacturing: As an additive for UV-curable inks and metallic inks, it enhances the wettability and adhesion of pigments. The recommended addition amount is 2% to 60%.

Adhesive: As a tackifying resin in polyurethane adhesives, it enhances the bonding strength and heat resistance.
