SOLVENT DYE solvent dye is a dye soluble in organic solvents. It is usually used as a solution in an organic solvent. Solvent dyes are used to color organic solvents, hydrocarbon fuels, waxes, lubricants, plastics, and otherhydrocarbon-based nonpolar materials. Fuel dyes are one use of solvent dyes. Theirmolecules are typically nonpolar or little polar, and they do not undergo ionization. They areinsoluble in water. They form a colloidal solution in solvents. They have poor (basic dyes) togood (metal complex based) light fastness. Red and yellow solvent dyes are often azo dyes, green and blue ones tend tobe anthraquinone dyes. Solvent dyes are used for gold imitation (and other transparent metallic effects) of metallizedpolyester films. Also used in marking inks, inkjet inks, glass coloration, and so on.
Application: Solvent dyes for Leather- spray finishing of dyed & undyed leather. Solvent dyes for Inks for rotogravure and rubber stereo printing; for coating copying paperand typewriter ribbons; for ball point pens, and in printing inks as shading and brighteningagents and for double tone effects. Solvent dyes for Wax & Candles Solvent dyes for Petrol & Fuel Oils. Solvent dyes for Cosmetics Solvent dyes for Wood Stain, Spirit & Varnishes. Solvent dyes for Coloration of moulding powders, construction material of cellulose acetate, celluloid, polystyrene, polymethacrylates, PVC, P/F, U/F. Solvent dyes for Aluminium foil printing, transparent lacquers, nitrocellulose, celluloseacetate, vinyl, alkyd, other synthetic resins or shellac.
